Barbara H. Wacker, 71, of Leavenworth passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012 after a long battle with kidney disease. She was born, April 6, 1940, in Leavenworth, the daughter of Leonard and Helen (Simanowitz) Robinson.
She worked for over 30 years at the Conference Center at Fort Leavenworth and was a member of Kansas City Chapter of Sweet Adelines for over 20 years.
Barbara was blessed with three sons, Dennis (Terrie) Wacker, David (Missy) Wacker and Thomas Wacker who survive her. She is also survived by two grandsons, Jason (Robin) Wacker and Christopher (Ashley) Wacker; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Wacker, Lillianna Wacker and Zoie Wacker; and five siblings, James (Dolores) Robinson, Leonard (Doris) Robinson, Marjorie (Frank) Sullivan, Patricia (Robert) Meyer and Michael (Marsha) Robinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Betty Hosler and Alice Gonzales.
Barbara will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her strong faith in God, her love of sports especially the Kansas City Chiefs and the KU Jayhawks and her dedication and love for her family.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the American Kidney Foundation or DaVita Leavenworth Dialysis.
