Louis P. “Pat” Tucker, 81, of Leavenworth, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Providence Medical Center. He was born Aug. 26, 1930, in Beatrice, Neb., the son of Casimir A. and Mary Margaret (Carmichael) Tucker.
On Oct. 18, 1952, he married Flora Fern Bump in Atchison, Kan. She survives at the home. He is also survived by his children, Michael P. (Deborah A.) Tucker of Olathe, Beth Tucker of Leavenworth, Mark S. (Vicki) Tucker of Kansas City, Mo., Joan (Carl) Biastock of Leavenworth, Edward J. Tucker of Leavenworth, Janet E.(Bill) Joest Sr., of Leavenworth and Daniel Tucker of Harrisonville, Mo.; his two brothers, James C. (Mary) Tucker of Oceanside, Calif. and William (Marian) Tucker of Sioux Falls, S.D.; his sister, Sister Seraphine Tucker OSB of Atchison; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and was a grandfather figure to many children.
He was a life-time educator, teaching at Leavenworth High School for many years from where he retired. After retirement he taught at Immaculata and Padre Pio School as a volunteer. Pat was an active member of the St. Philippine Duchesne Latin Mass community, he enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking and gardening. He was a life-time member of the Knights of Columbus and VFW.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. The rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Saint Joseph Church with Rev. John Fongemie as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Philippine Catholic Church.
