Rose T. Jauernig, 100, of Lansing, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at Homestead of Leavenworth. She was born Nov. 25, 1911, in Potter, Kan., the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Ernzen) Noll.
On May 29, 1935, she married Paul Jauernig at Corpus Christy Church in Mooney Creek, Kan. He preceded her in death Aug. 22, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Susanna M. Smith, Apolonia Noll, Margaret Schrick, Loretta Weishaar, Irene Cline, Adelene Noll, Jacob Noll and Leonard Noll.
Rose is survived by her children, Mary Louise (Merlin) Fink of Casa Grande, Ariz., Joseph W. Jauernig of Lansing, Edward (Ruth) Jauernig of Leavenworth, Rose Marie (Albert) White of Leavenworth, Sister Paula Rose Jauernig SCL of Leavenworth, Helen Irene (Clifford) Schalipp of Tijeras, N.M. John P. (Sandy) Jauernig of Leavenworth and Francis (Sandy) Jauernig of Shawnee, Kan.; 14 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 19 step-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; 8 step-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was long-time member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where she was a member of the church altar society and the Daughters of Isabella. Rose was a member of Lansing Community Club and the Lansing Young at Heart Club. She belonged to a senior Bunco Club. In her past-time she enjoyed quilting and working in her garden. More than once she was the recipient of the Lansing Pride award.
Visitation beginning with prying the rosary will be from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis de Sales Church with Rev. William McEvoy as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Francis de Sales building fund or Leavenworth Assistance Center.
