Jesus, the Christ, Son of God, “Mary’s Baby” received his faithful servant Reverend Dr. Hyman L Jarrett, Sr., to GLORY on June 12, 2012. This faithful servant was the first born son of seven children to James and Amanda Jarrett in Poplar Grove, Arkansas, on October 14, 1938.
Dr. Jarrett was promised to God by his father before he was born and heard “the calling” at age twelve. He accepted his calling at the age of seventeen at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Kansas City, KS under the leadership of the late, Rev. M.E. Ford.
Dr. Jarrett accepted the mantel of responsibility for leading God’s people at Sunflower Baptist Church in Leavenworth, Kansas on the First Sunday in November of 1966.
Those who meet him in Glory were his parents, one brother, Raymond J. Jarrett, one nephew, Drake W. Jarrett and one step-son Terrance Mitchem.
He leaves to cherish his legacy and memory, his beloved wife Rev. Tracy M. Jarrett, one son, Rev Hyman L. Jarrett (Holly), Lawrence Kansas, one daughter, Maria D. Hill (Marcus) Olathe Kansas; three step-daughters, Deanna Mitchem, Kansas City Mo, Taleesha and Ashley Netherland, Leavenworth Ks two step-sons, Charles and Bertram Mitchem, Kansas City KS; four brothers, Maymond(Denise) Powder Spring GA, Donald Jarrett (Mare)West Palm Beach FL, Vincent Jarrett (Barbara) Kansas City, KS, Ronald Jarrett, Kansas City, KS; one sister Belinda Jarrett, Kansas City, KS; 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and a host of nieces nephew cousin and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Sunflower Missionary Baptist Church. Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2012, followed by the Celebration of Life Services. All services will be held at the Sunflower Missionary Baptist Church, 1708 5th Ave., Leavenworth, KS. Burial with military honors will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
