Narcisa Hernandez, 94, of Leavenworth, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at St. John Hospital. She was born Dec. 27, 1917, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Joaquin and Fransisca (Oquendo) Negron.
In 1939 she married Enrique Hernandez. He preceded her in death of Nov. 20, 2004. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
She is survived by her daughters, Alicia (Hector) Terron of Leavenworth, Norma (Donnie) Runnebaum of Leavenworth, Gloria Spence of Leavenworth, Rose Mary Cruz (Frank Conces) of Leavenworth and Irma (Jim) Searcy of Weston, Mo.;16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Narcisa was a very devoted member of St. Francis deSales Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family and guests. She worked as a homemaker her entire life.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. The rosary will be prayed at 1:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, at St. Francis deSales Church with Rev. William McEvoy as celebrant. A parish luncheon will be served at noon prior to the funeral mass. Burial will follow at Leavenworth National Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Francis deSales Church.
