Mark Gerald Ayres

Mark Gerald Ayres, 58, of Leavenworth, passed on to the next life, Monday, Aug. 27, 2018, after being hospitalized a very short period of time at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

He was born April 22, 1960, in Lansing, Mich. Mark attended schools in Michigan and graduated from Glenbard South High School in Glen Ellyn, Illinois in 1979. He attended College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois where he was a standout in football and earned his associates. He also attended Illinois State University. Mark began his experiences in Leavenworth, Kansas in 1985, working for several home construction companies. He ultimately began his employment with his present employer, Julius Kaaz Construction Co. Inc. as a Union Superintendent. Mark was loved by many that he worked with, his family and friends. Mark maintained a reputation of being easy to work with and well respected. Many describe him as a 'great guy'.

Mark leaves behind his loving wife, Lisa, whom he married in 2001 in Leavenworth, Kansas. Mark and Lisa raised four children; Nicole Katherine Regenold, age 27, hairdresser, Kyle Matthew Regenold, age 25 who is in his fourth year as a pharmacy student at Kansas University, Haily Riane Bartlett, age 25, graduated from Pittsburg State University and resides in St. Louis, Missouri as an art director and Tyler Cole Ayres, age 23, who also graduated from Pittsburgh State University and is presently a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army assigned at Ft. Carson, Colorado.

He also leaves behind his parents, Jerry and Sally Ayres of Lansing, Kansas; and a sister, Midge Simmons, her husband Tom and their children Lexie and Niko of Derby, Kansas; cousins, and a wealth of friends.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, at the R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the services. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Melanoma Research Foundation.
